Legion X is a Recognized Assessor for the Department of War’s Blue UAS program, run by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
10 U.S.C. § 4127(e) Authorizes the Defense Innovation Unit to identify and support multi-stakeholder research and innovation partnerships that have the potential to generate technologies, processes, products, or solutions that address national defense or security needs, with an objective of technological advancement or commercialization.
Our Recognized Assessor partners support the expansion and execution of compliance assessments for unmanned platforms and components under the Blue UAS initiative. The primary focus is to enable the timely and secure evaluation of commercial drone platforms and components for potential inclusion to the Blue List. Once a submission has been received through the Blue Portal, the Recognized Assessors will be able to provide a cost estimate and timeline to conduct the assessment, and the submitter can determine which proposal makes sense for their situation. Recognized Assessors all work to the same Blue UAS Standard and provide standardized reporting to the government for a certification decision. — DCMA Blue Portal

SERvices
Introduction to Blue UAS, discussion of the Blue UAS process itself (including assessment criteria, steps, timelines, customer expectations, and intended results), discussion of how to submit applicant materials to begin the process, and high level discussion of how company products may fit into a submission packet
(Available after you have submitted a packet to the Blue UAS Intake Portal) Discussion of technical and logistical specifics of the product submission to prepare a quote for Blue UAS Assessment or other services
Development of a customized Statement of Work (SOW) to cover an evaluation audit of any or all of the 30 Blue UAS Assessment Criteria, discussion of the technical and logistical requirements to support SOW execution (for example, will the customer need to send a drone or parts of a drone for evaluation), selection of either a written report or some other deliverable format
This option is meant to perform an evaluation audit to the exact same standards used during the official Blue UAS Assessment, so a customer can understand whether their designs/components/cybersecurity would be marked compliant in a given Assessment Criteria category. Remediations are provided as part of the consultation, so it should reduce the chances of non-compliance during the official assessment.
Any permissible topic, including Blue UAS assessment preparation, technical review, procedural review, design evaluation, supply chain evaluation, BOM evaluation, business structure and equity holder evaluations, cybersecurity evaluation, and targeted risk remediations
Review of digital BOM or physical components for supply chain compliance, provide Clearpath REDSCOPE graphics and written feedback
BOM review down to the integrated circuit chip level (the Blue UAS standard)
If data is available, feedback will include reporting on where each chip is (1) Manufactured, (2) Assembled, (3) Tested, and (4) Packaged as well as analytic input on whether that logistical chain is likely to pass Blue UAS standards for a given chip
